Pearls

  • Frequently associated with injuries to surrounding ligaments and other bones.
  • Initial X-rays are often negative, therefore consider CT if high clinical suspicion.
  • A fracture of both the scaphoid and the capitate with 180° rotation of the capitate (Scaphocapitate syndrome), requires surgery.

Complications
