Pearls

• Occur in pediatrics presents as Salter-Harris fractures. These can lead to growth arrest and decreased joint mobility.
• Occur in elderly or frail patients.
• At risk for popliteal artery and peroneal nerve injury. Include A-A or ABI in your vascular evaluation (<90% of unaffected limb is considered abnormal).
• Most fractures require surgical treatment.
• Stable, nondisplaced fractures can be treated nonoperatively with immobilization.
• CT scan be useful to evaluate for articular extension.
