Pearls

  • All Galeazzi fractures require urgent/emergent surgical treatment.
  • Fractures of the distal 1/3 of the radial shaft have a high probability of having associated DRUJ injury.
  • Radiographic signs concerning for DRUJ instability include ulnar styloid fractures, radial shortening and displacement on lateral radiographs.

Pediatrics:

  • Closed reduction under general anesthesias is the optimal treatment.
