Pearls

• Obtain axillary or Velpeau X-ray to rule out concomitant shoulder dislocation.
• Displacement is defined as 1cm of segment displacement, >45° of angulation, or >0.5cm displacement of the greater tuberosity.
• Most evidence shows outcomes are similar for surgical and non-surgical treatment, even for displaced fractures.
• One-part fractures (non-displaced) are generally non-surgical.
