The risk of re-dislocation is higher with younger patients. Studies show up to 74% patients <27 years-old with shoulder dislocations will end up with instability.

Associated rotator cuff tear risk goes up with patient’s age: 35-40% at 40 years-old and up to 90% at age 60.

Urgent orthopedic consultation if loose bodies or fracture seen on post reduction imaging.
