Pediatric injuries are typically treated with closed reduction and splinting/casting.

Indications for closed reduction and casting in pediatric patients:

  • >50% apposition
  • <1 cm shortening
  • <5-10° of angulation in coronal and sagittal planes
  • <5° rotation

Indications for surgery in pediatric patients:

  • >5mm displacement AP
    – >10° angulation in AP
    – >5° angulation in lateral view
    – >10° rotation
